The birth registration for Lilla Amy Edwards arrived May 16, 2005 and mother was Elizabeth Edwards , formerly Ellis. This name of Elizabeth Ellis and the occupation of John Edwards as a "brewers foreman " on the 1861 census indicates that John Edwards and John Robert Sutton Hudson should be one and the same person. In 1861 it would appear that John's only surviving child by his first marriage to Gertrude Emma Ingram is Thomas Ingram Hudson, now age 12 and boarding with a young 23 year old Schoolmaster in Lanport, Portsea, Hampshire as per the 1861 census. It would seem very likely that Gertrude Emma (Ingram) Hudson has deceased by this time.
John Robert Sutton Hudson and Elizabeth Mary Ellis eventually do get married on 1 March , 1863 in the parish of St. George, Southwark. (London) as their marriage registration indicates.

Hi Jim:
Our conversation re the baptism record I found on ancestry is attached.
You can see that the 3rd name of this child is not easily read, however, I have determined that it is "Stanwix". Note that the father is Robert Hudson and he is born in November 1824 and baptized in Poplar.
I did find a Robert Hudson in Poplar who had a sister (widow) named Grace Stanwix (Stanwicks) living with him along with a boarder with son by the names of Radley. Robert is listed as a widower. The mother's name on the baptism is Martha Patience (Radley). I have also found a marriage record for Robert Hudson marrying Martha Patience Radley as well as her death record in 1832. I also suspect that the boarder with Robert in 1851 is related to Martha given the last name.
So, while I can conclude that:
1. A Robert Hudson fathered a child named John Robert Stanwix Hudson
in 1824
2. Robert Hudson had a sister whose married name was Stanwix or Stanwicks
3. Robert Hudson's wife was Martha Patience Radley
and so I see a link between all these people, however, with respect to John Robert Sutton Hudson all I have for support is that this baptism might be one and the same is:
1. Most census give his birth year as about 1825 and birth place as Poplar except the one in 1871 which was such a mess, and his age is given as 58 when he died in early 1884.
For this reason, it might be useful to keep this info just as a note for future reference. We do have a copy of the original baptism, so there's nothing more for us to say either yeay or nay to is there.

Re the marriage date of John Robert Sutton Hudson and Elizabeth Mary Ellis..
according to the baptismal record of Albert Ellis in Jan of 1863, the mother Elizabeth Mary Ellis was still single at that time.. so Elizabeth must have been married after that. so perhaps 1863.
But Arthur Frederick Hudson would certainly appear to have been born in the last quarter of 1862 as per his GRO index in Bermondsey, Surrey.
The daughter Marion Hudson would appear to be born in 1864 as per the GRO indexes.

A marriage registration was found for an Elizabeth Ellis, 4th qtr, of 1859, registration district of Wareham, which sounded very good indeed, but a search for a record for John Hudson for the same period does not turn up a match. (Elizabeth Ellis, 4th quarter, 1859, Wareham, vol 5a, page 663).. so maybe Elizabeth Ellis married someone else prior to the marriage to John R S Hudson??
( FreeBMD indicates a possible match for a Henry Hanny on same registration page) A search for a family of Henry Hanny with wife Elizabeth does turn up a Henry Hanney and Elizabeth (Elizabeth born Langton, Dorset) living in Holdenhurst, Hampshire in 1881 and having a 20 year old daughter.. So this likely forces a discard of the 1859 marriage of Elizabeth Ellis , 4th qtr of 1859 in Wareham.
