Born: Abt 1842, EnglandMarriage: Sarah Research Notes:
I suspect that the William Dyson shown below on the 1891 census in Alberta is likely a relative of some sort of Arthur Dyson as the daughter of his close neighbor (Florence Hudson) soon marries Arthur Dyson in Calgary in 1892. Perhaps Arthur was visiting William and met the 21 year old Florence Hudson. note by jca. so who was William Dyson, here age 49 and a Wool Factory employee.?? ________________________________________________________

Okay, now I am thinking of William Dyson. According
to your notes, James, and I remember seeing the
Census, he was age 49 in 1891. Checking LDS, I found
a William Dyson b. 23 March 1842 which would make him
49 in time for the 1891 Census. Christened at St.
Leonard's in Shoreditch. Father Abner Dyson and
Mother Sarah Louisa. Abner was born 6 March 1820 and
chr at St. Matthew, Bethnal Green, London and Father
is George William, Mother Mary. Going back further,
George William Dyson married Mary James 24 Nov 1793 at
St. Leonard's, Shoreditch. I also found George William
Dyson b. 02 March 1774 and chr. at St. Leonard's,
parents are George "Dison" and Arabella Jeys who were
married 16 Sept 1770 at St. Leonard's. There must be
 a thousand Dysons married/christened at St. Leonard's
in Shoreditch and are probably all related.

[ note by another researcher "Nicola" who points out that
this William H Dyson is not likely the son of Abner Dyson.]

 Hi

I picked up your website googling "Arabella Jeys" and came across the
comments regarding Abner and Sarah Dyson's son William -
 <http://www.legacyfamilytree.ca/ODoherty/439.htm>. Unfortunately their son
William can't be your William H Dyson because he was christended William
John Dyson and there is a death registered March qtr 1843 in Shoreditch
Registration District which I suspect is the same child since he never
appears on the census with them.

In National Archives www under Western Canada Land
Grants (1870-1930), found a William Dyson with 2
parcels of land granted to him. They give the File
Reel # etc. and legal description but these mean
nothing to me. When Arthur joined the NWMP he said he
lived at Elbow River in Calgary at the time. Would
land be granted that close in those times? I think it
is a real possibility that Arthur went to Calgary,
having this William Dyson as a contact, and if the
property was close to Mary Hudson, that is likely how
he met Florence. It doesn't appear that she was
anywhere near where he was stationed (Ft. Calgary,
Banff and his last one when he went off and got
hitched was at Sheep Creek). Wish I knew that area
better!! I'm also curious about a Charles Dyson age
56, who married Eliza (Reed) Johnson on 6 June 1901 in
Pincher Creek because we were always told that Granny
Dyson went to Pincher Creek when she returned with her
children to Canada as a widow.

Sure wish we could access Alberta's BMD registry. So
that's my thoughts lately on putting a few more pieces
 of the puzzle in place.

 Cheers,

( a follow-up on the above-mentioned Charles Dyson, age 56, in 1901 in Pincher Creek , found him to be born in the United States and of African racial origin, as per page 16 of the 1901 Pincher Creek census, so not likely any relative of our Dyson family... jca.. December 2004)

William married Sarah. (Sarah was born about 1852 in Quebec.)
