bullet  General Notes:

She was a cousin of Sir Walter Scott . He used to breakfast with Helen and her sister and they helped him with the plot of Ivanhoe.

Helen Scott was believed to have made the family tapestry ( It has been passed down through the generations and William Burn Thompson has had it since the 1990's).

A family picture shows the tapestry hanging in the Burn's Chedoke home at Hamilton Ont. circa 1887.

The story behind the tapestry is believed to be as follows;

" The standing figure is a woman, the sweetheart of the man she is about to kill ( who is on the ground). They had a quarrel, and he went off to war, and she disguised as a man went off too, only on the opposite side. They met in battle, she finds him wounded and is about to do him in when she realizes who he is!"
