bullet  General Notes:

Jodie's first professional job, after earning her B.Comm. at UBC, was with Perkins and Company, Vancouver. She stayed one year and then moved to Evanston, Illinois, to attend U. of I. at Chicago and earn her Masters in Urban Planning and Policy. During those two years, she was also employed part time at Teska Associates Inc. in Evanston, who, upon her graduation, hired her full time. After four years there, she reached the position of Senior Associate. During that time, Jodie also wrote the exam and was awarded membership in The American Institute of Certified Planners. She retired from Teska Associates Inc. in the summer of 2002 to move to Vancouver, B.C..

Jodie was tested and found to be a gifted student as a child, so was enrolled in Enrichment Programs to supplement regular class studies. She was chosen Class Valedictorian for Grade Six, Junior High, and Senior High graduations, and was an honor student every year from grade one to grade twelve. She graduated with "honors" from U.B.C.. Jodie was also very active outside of school work. Through the years, she took lessons in skating, swimming, piano, ballet and tap dancing, she snow skied and she played soccer. A major involvement was English equestrian riding, which started at the age of seven on riding school horses (her first was a pony named "Buddy"), expanded to having her own horse, a fancy strawberry roan named "Magic Moments" at age 13, and outgrowing her and moving up to "Valerian", a tall, young bay thoroughbred. After five years of competing on the Western Canada amateur show jumping circuit, Jodie left riding at the age of 17. She was particularly talented in equitation and had won many medals and ribbons, beginning with her very first show at Spruce Meadows in the Children's Hunter Division. Jodie was always an avid reader, and expanded that interest to writing her own stories as a young girl. She went on to become an excellent public speaker through dealings with Junior Acheivement and Toastmasters. Jodie took up tennis in her mid 20's.

Jodie met her future husband in second year University at U.B.C.. They moved to Illinois together in 1996, were married in Vancouver in July of 1999, and returned to live in Vancouver in the summer of 2002. They bought at condominium in the West End and Jodie was at home for eight months before acquiring a planning position with Smart Growth B.C.. She enjoys time spent with their dog, works out at the gym, takes bicycle rides around Stanley Park and English Bay, and generally appreciates the city life.
