A very quiet wedding was solemnized last evening at the home of the Rev. J. R. Monroe, when Ernest R. Vickery and Miss Kate G. Harvey were united in the bonds of matrimony, the Rev. J. R. Monroe officiating. Mr. Vickery is one of Taber's successful merchants. The bride recently arrived from England. Mr. and Mrs. Vickery will make their home in Taber. 3 (MSS notes ); Hi Jim,
This is what I have/ know on my mom's side of the family:
William J. Vickery m. Eliza Grace _____?( my old notes had his sec. initial as I. instead of a J. it was corrected by my cousin...so, I think she is correct, i.e; a J.) I also have a note to say Eliza Grace died in 1917.
William and Eliza had 2 sons( not 100% sure if it was only 2) ..but they were:
Ernest Robert Vickery ( my maternal grandfather) & Albert ( Bert) Vickery) m. Beryl____?
E.R. Vickery was born in Bath, England... 3 Oct 1876. married 10 Aug 1908 to Kate Grace Harvey who was b. 18 Sept 1981, Plymouth......eventually lived in Taber AB , had 4 children...my mom was the second youngest.....then they retired to Calgary. He died 2 Feb 1962. Kate died 1967 in Calgary. I have lots of details on my maternal grandmother's side thanks to a cousin of my mom who lived near Plymouth.
What I don't know for sure is the number of sons that Albert had( there well may be only one, however)....the one for sure was Stanley Vickery who lived in or around Tavistock, Devon. He died in Dec. 1986. My notes say that he had 3 children....Christopher, John and Diana. I also think that Christopher had at least 2 children --a boy and a girl, my notes say. John may have had at least 2 as well...a boy and a girl? Diana may have one child whose name seems a very strange spelling...Faviell ? Christopher may moved to the Isle of Wight
John Vickery --was living last in / near Plymouth, England....my notes say he was probably a son of Stanley Vickery. Stanley was my mom's cousin ....sure wish I had asked her more about him and the rest of the family....but isn't that the usual story ?? !!!
My maternal grandfather E.R. Vickery knew he would not be in line to inheirit the family store in Plymouth which was called Vickery Dingles...now apparently called just Dingles...if it still is there.---( so he came to Canada - ship / date ?)..
The last known address I have for John....was 158 Lipson Rd. Plymouth, PL4 7NX....when I received this update...my cousin thought he might still be alive...but that was some time ago so likely not alive...death date ??.
What I hope you may find is the info on William and Eliza Grace; Albert and his wife, their son Stanley and his wife , and their children, John, Christpher and Diana and their wives / husband and possibly their children... for the latter really don't need to go to too much detail other for names...but you decide.
I hope I have NOT loaded this email with TOO MUCH info....If you need any more please let me know. Unfortunately, I do not have the emigration details for E.R....nor when my grandmother came over.
There are a few missing bits of info ....some b. / d. / m. dates on my maternal Grandmother Harvey's side...but that's a whole other story. If you were successful on the Vickey side, I would be tempted to ask you to try to fill in these as well at a later date. My mom's cousin traced some relatives back to someone who died in 1761.
Cheers..............Don.

Wilson - Vickery

Of wide interest was the quiet ceremony at Vancouver on Saturday morning, April 12th, when united in marriage Dora Grace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Vickery of Taber, to Dr. Gordon Mclaren Wilson , son of Rev. and Mrs. G. A. Wilson of Vancouver. The groom is the grandson of Dr. E. D. McLaren.

Canadian Memorial Chapel , decorated with cherry and apple blossoms and Easter lilies, was the setting for the ceremony, at which the groom's father, assisted by G. Harrison Villett, officiated.

The bride was given in marriage by her father and Miss Joy Vickery, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Dr. Gordon Brown of Minneapolis was best man.

A turquoise blue smart jacket frock, was worn by the bride with white accessories, and she carried a bouquet of pink roses and smilax. The maid of honor wore a complementary redingote frock of dusty rose with navy accessories and a corsage of cream roses.

Following the ceremony the bridal party gathered at the home of Rev. and Mrs. G Harrison Villett for coffee.

Dr. and Mrs. Wilson will reside at Trail after a trip to the island.
